Penny

Penny peacefully left us early afternoon on Friday, March 26, 2010.

People like Penny Lamont McAllister don't come along very often. She made our lives magical. We love her and will miss her forever.

Thanks for all the love and support.

Jonathan

  2. I was so sorry to hear about Penny last night - I was stunned as I didn't even know she was ill. My prayers go out to you and her girls and her mom. I met Penny and her mom at the Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain several years ago. She was an amazing artist and inspired a lot of people including me. And just the most uplifting and happy woman. Hugs to you all.

Penny was my middle daughter's librarian at Central Elem. She was the only librarian she ever had who could keep up with her voracious appetite for reading. I hear often people talking about Penny's artistic abilities but I will always remember her for the lasting impact she had on the lives of young children.

Penny was a magical, one-of-a kind person--she had such an amazing way of embracing life. I'm so thankful to have been one of so many who were touched by her. Love and prayers to Jonathan, the girls and Joyce.

  9. This is hard news. She had such a feisty attitude and I prayed she would win the battle. I never got to meet Penny in person, but I "knew" her just the same. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. Peace and love to you all.

  11. I am stunned and so sad...had not even know Penny was sick until a couple of days ago. Penny had such an impact on my children's lives at Verner through all her wonderful library activities and allowed me to volunteer since I love books too...always wanted to be a librarian just like Penny. I will faithfully pray for God's peace and comfort in the next months and years...she would want us all to laugh again. Know she was so loved and that is because she loved. Be strong and become all she would want you to be. Love and hugs. Annelle Reed

  14. Gosh , there is so much saddness in my heart as I hear the news,I met Penny many years ago online, we would get online at 4 am and chat before she went to school to teach, sometimes it was for hours. I love her stories and her wisdom, often times she would help me out in the art world.. Life will never be the same without Penny, but her art lives on in all of us, she was such an adorable funny lady.. I will sure Miss you Penny.. hugs to all the famlies in these very hard times..

  18. Heaven just got a little brighter and Earth just got a little darker with the passing of our beloved friend and fellow artist, Penny. Such a fun loving, talented lady with an encouraging spirit, Penny shared her knowledge with good cheer and touched the lives of so many. We are all stunned and intensely feel your loss. May God wrap his loving arms around each family member and hold you close. Penny’s death makes no sense. In our anger, sadness, confusion and grief…God and His promises are there. We will continue to lift you up in prayer.

  20. Jonathan and ladies - My deepest sympathies. Penny was the brightest spot at Birmingham Christmas Village and Cottontails. Her artistic gift was matched only by her love of life and love of people. She has brightened many lives and her memory will continue to brighten and inspire mine. I can only imagine your loss - please know that you are in the prayers of many, many people.

    Lifting you up . . . .

  21. To tne entire McAllister family from the staff of Christmas Village. When we heard the news of Penny's passing, even though our hearts were broken, we could not help but smile when we thought back to the first time we heard the name Penny McAllister. When Penny contacted our company concerning participation she stated "She didn't know if we thought her work was good enough." As we sat in our office reviewing the photos from the most talented artist to come along in a long time we were amazed at her talent, intrigued by her imagination, and dumbfounded over her humbleness. Every person, customer or not, who entered her booth was delighted by her whimsical imagination, and talent.

The staff of both Cottontail's and Christmas Village Arts, Crafts, and Gifts shows would like to express our sympathy. Penny's absence will leave a physical hole in our shows but she has filled a spot in our our hearts with
    admiration.

  22. I only met Penny once, in Southern California about 7 years ago. Wish I would have had the opportunity to get to know her better.

Peace be with you, Penny, and with your family too.
